I do not visit many blogs often, at least I do not choose to. The one blog that I do visit is a photoblog by a friend of mine, shantydorm.tumblr.com. I like to visit this blog because I have always liked his photography work. I use a web application called Stumble Upon and that takes me to several different blogs that have interesting news articles or food recipes, but I am never impressed enough to remember the name of them.
Some of the blogs that I have seen trough Stumble Upon that covered news just seemed to write artcles based on other mainstream news outlets so I would say that I prefer going straight to the source.
I don't think that I would want to "covertly" build a buzz for a product if I am being paid to promote it. That sounds like a very sneaky and manipulating thing to do, especially if you have a faithful following. I would much rather be upfront about my reasons for promoting something. I have always felt that being truthful and open to you audience will get the best responses even if at first they don't agree with it.
When it comes to taking effective photographs for a feature story, you need to be able to capture part of the story in the picture. A good way to do this is by taking environmental portraits, pictures that capture the subject in their normal environment. This can help show the persons story in a still picture.

PR Class Blog Entry #1
I have been taking classes on Public Relations for several years now at Robert Morris University so I would think that I have a decent idea about the practice of public relations. Depending on the circumstances, I believe that a PR is the practice of building and maintaining a good relationship with an organizations publics. To do this, practitioners like myself need to be able to communicate and connect with the target audiences by releasing press releases, maintaining social media pages, and so on.
I think that the information that we covered in class will help with the builders project because it will help me to complete my interviews in a professional manner. Professor Mark Houser gave the class some great insights on how to conduct an interview and write a feature story, so it will hopefully help with this task.
I think that my team has been communicating very well through e-mails. We have also been meeting after classes to discuss what we are going to have to do. But we seem to keep losing team members, so last I have seen, we are down to 4 team members including myself. I think this will make the task of interviewing 27 people even more difficult.
I feel that I am still growing as a PR practitioner even though this is my last semester as a student. Some of the classes I have taken in the past at RMU have not tought me much so I was hoping this class would be helpful. I am not entirely sure about it now tho because it feels more like a journalism class.
